Hari Diabetes Sedunia 14 November, Ini Sejarahnya
Kinipaham – Hari Diabetes Sedunia atau World Diabetes Day diperingati setiap 14 November. Peringatan ini dimaksudkan untuk mengedukasi masyarakat soal penyakit diabetes yang berbahaya.
Tahun ini, peringatan Hari Diabetes Sedunia mengambil tema ‘Access to Diabetes Care’ yang berfokus pada tiap pasien diabetes harus mendapatkan akses pengobatan dan perawatan yang tepat dan setara.
Dilansir dari laman World Diabetes Day, fokus Hari Diabetes Sedunia tahun ini juga pada pencegahan diabetes tipe 2 sekaligus komplikasi penyakit yang diakibatkannya.
Selain itu, berfokus pada pentingnya memiliki akses yang sama terhadap informasi yang tepat berkaitan dengan diabetes. Hal ini demi memastikan pengobatan dan perawatan yang tepat hingga penanganan bisa maksimal.
Tema di tahun ini juga berfokus pada pendidikan diabetes intensif bagi para profesional kesehatan dan penderita diabetes. Tema ini juga mendorong deteksi dini serta mengikuti gaya hidup yang lebih baik agar menekan risiko diabetes di usia yang sangat muda.
Lantas, bagaimana sejarah Hari Diabetes Sedunia?
Hari Diabetes Sedunia resmi diperingati sejak 2006 lalu. Hal ini berdasarkan resolusi Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa (PBB) No. 61/225.
Tanggal 14 November ditetapkan bertepatan dengan hari ulang tahun Sir Frederick Banting sebagai penemu insulin bersama Charles Best pada tahun 1922.
Kampanye yang biasanya muncul di Hari Diabetes Sedunia adalah logo lingkaran biru. Logo ini diluncurkan pada 2007, tepat setelah perayaan ini diresmikan dan diakui PBB.
Sejak itu, lingkaran biru dianggap sebagai simbol global kesadaran diabetes. Logo ini juga melambangkan koalisi komunitas diabetes global dalam memerangi peningkatan kasus diabetes di dunia.
Hari Diabetes Sedunia menjadi kampanye kesadaran diabetes terbesar di dunia yang menjangkau lebih dari 1 miliar orang di lebih dari 160 negara.*
